    Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne (Cantu) Hickel in in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of the late Charlie Sr. and Guadalupe Adams Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn Moran and Brittany Hickel.

    Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes.  Resthaven Funeral Home’s state-of-the-art facility assures your loved one’s final memory will be personal, memorable and lasting.  Look for future Resthaven Chapels in neighboring Odem and Taft.

2014080_1.jpgSinton – Aurora Chacon Sanchez, 80, passed away November 24, 2014.  Aurora was born on January 20, 1934 to Eladio and Eustolia (Torres Gonzales) Chacon. She was a homemaker and resident of Sinton, Texas more than 50 years and former resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. She was an employee of the former Ferguson’s Restaurant in Odem, Texas.
Preceding Aurora in death is her husband Jose A Sanchez; parents Eladio and Eustolia Chacon; brothers: Margarito Chacon, Guadalupe Chacon and Alfonso Chacon.

Ludwig, Vernen Lloyd

2014079_1.jpgPapalote – Vernen Lloyd Ludwig, beloved son, husband, Dad and Grandpa, passed away November 22, 2014 at the age of 89. He was born in West Sinton, Texas on September 4, 1925 to Phillip and Katherina (Riemenschnider) Ludwig. Vernen was a farmer in the Clareville community and loved doing work with his backhoe, combine, tractor and all farm equipment. He served our country joining the US Coast Guard in 1943. Vernen was stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter “The Kirkpatrick” as a radar specialist. He was a member of the Sinton VFW. Vernen was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved being on the road traveling.  He will be dearly missed by his family. 

Johnson, Kenward Chessler

2014078_1.jpgSinton – Kenward Chessler Johnson, 79, passed away November 20, 2014. He was born in Weslaco, Texas on July 29, 1935 to William and Omega Johnson. Kenward was the owner/operator of Johnson’s Upholstery for more than 31 years.
Preceding Kenward in death is his loving wife of 54 years, Wanda Johnson.

Tijerina, Jose Ramon

Jose was born on March 10, 1932 in Brownsville, Texas to Manuel, Sr. and Francisca (Moran) Tijerina.  He was a lifelong resident of Taft, Texas. Jose was a retired industrial construction worker formerly employed by J Carroll Weaver Construction.

Sinton – Gabriela Hinojosa Peralez passed away at the early age of 31 on November 18, 2014. She was born on December 23, 1982 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Francisco G. and Lucy (Trevino) Hinojosa. Gabriela was a physical therapist employed with Alameda Physical Therapy in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was currently a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas and formerly of Sinton, Texas.
