    Resthaven Funeral Home was established by lifelong Sinton resident Yvonne (Cantu) Hickel in in March 2007.  Yvonne graduated Sinton High School and Commonwealth College of Funeral Service in Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively in the funeral industry since 1991.  Yvonne was employed as a Funeral Director/Embalmer by Allison Funeral Services in Liberty, Texas, Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas and as Manager at Sterling Funeral Home in Dayton, Texas.  Yvonne is the daughter of the late Charlie Sr. and Guadalupe Adams Cantu. Yvonne and husband, Lee, have two daughters, Autumn Moran and Brittany Hickel.

    Resthaven Funeral Home specializes in personal and dignified funeral services, offers a large selection of monuments and accepts pre-paid funeral arrangements made at other funeral homes.  Resthaven Funeral Home’s state-of-the-art facility assures your loved one’s final memory will be personal, memorable and lasting.  Look for future Resthaven Chapels in neighboring Odem and Taft.

Sinton-Miguel “Huero” Alaniz, 79, passed away February 27, 2015. He was born in Goliad, Texas on May 7, 1935 to Lazaro and Juanita (Garcia) Alaniz. He was a lifetime resident of Sinton, Texas and former employee of H&K Construction.


Medellin, Candelario "Albert" III

Pflugerville - Candelario “Albert” Medellin, III, 46, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2015 with his loving family at his side. Albert was born in Robstown, Texas on July 31, 1968 to Candelario Jr. and Norma Elia (Gonzalez) Medellin. He was an IT Specialist for 10 years and currently employed by TDLR in Austin, Texas. Albert was a resident of Pflugerville, and former resident of the Robstown and Callallen areas.  Preceding Albert in death is his mother Norma Medellin; his daughter Ashley Marie Medellin; and brother-in-law Tony Diaz.

Doty, Wanda Jo Vickers "Dodie"

Sinton-Wanda Jo Vickers “Dodie” Doty, age 78, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2015.   She was born on March 12, 1936. Dodie graduated from Sinton High School in 1954 where she played the clarinet in the band.  She also played the organ at the First Baptist Church in Sinton, Texas and was a member of the Rainbow Girls. She attended Durham Business College in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She worked as a medical receptionist and is best remembered for her time working for the late E. B. Groner, MD of Corpus Christi. Dodie and her family lived in Portland, Texas for 10 years before retiring to San Antonio in 1985.

Sinton – Rose Ann Garza Van Dyke, 62, passed away at her home on February 22, 2015. She was born on March 31, 1952 in Sinton, Texas to Enrique Villanueva and Juanita (Delgado) Garza. Rose Ann was a homemaker and retired hair stylist. She was a resident of Sinton, Texas for five years and formerly of Dallas, Texas. Preceding Rose Ann in death are her parents: Enrique and Juanita Garza; brother: Enrique D. Garza, Jr.; mother-in-law: Carol Van Dyke.

Rodriguez, Alfredo "Fred"

2015012_1.jpgTaft – Alfredo “Fred” Rodriguez, 81, passed away February 20, 2015.  He was born in Pleasanton, Texas on September 1, 1933. Fred was a veteran of the US Army who resided in Taft most of his life. He was a retired self-employed carpenter.
Preceding Fred in death is his father Pedro Rodriguez; stepmother Maria Rodriguez; brothers Johnny and Rudy; and sisters Virginia, Alicia and Maria.
